Mike Weston has spent 35 years managing and investing for UK public, private and, charity sector pension schemes. 

Until 2023 Mike was CEO of LGPS Central Limited. Under his leadership assets more than doubled to c£30bn, with several multi-billion-pound fund launches and the establishment of investment fund vehicles spanning both public and private markets asset classes. He drove the responsible investment agenda, more than doubled the team in Wolverhampton and delivered the investment performance and cost savings to support long-term pension payments by Partner Funds to their scheme members.

Mike is currently a Non-Executive Director at Wayhome, Chair of the Trustee Board at Institute of Cancer Research Pension Scheme, Accredited Professional Trustee Chair at Pi Partnership, Senior Consultant at Avida International and Senior Advisor at Labaton Keller Sucharow LLP.

Earlier in his career Mike was CEO of the Pensions Infrastructure Platform, a specialist UK infrastructure investor established and funded by UK pension schemes. He also spent 5 years as the Chief Investment Officer for the pension schemes of DMGT plc.  

Mike’s first financial sector role was as a UK Small Companies equity analyst at Hermes. He then became an equities portfolio manager/analyst at Mercury Asset Management (now Blackrock) before returning to Hermes to manage  their UK Shareholder Activist Focus Fund. He maintains a close interest in investment analysis, strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction.

Mike holds an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, an MBA from Cranfield University Business School and is a member of the Guild of Investment Managers.
