The British Business Bank Commits £2 Million to Cambridge Capital Group via Haatch Platform
Press release
The British Business Bank’s Regional Angels Programme has announced a £2 million commitment to Cambridge Capital Group (CCG) through the Haatch Angel Syndicate Platform, further expanding access to angel investment capital for high-growth businesses across the UK.
The commitment will be used to co-invest alongside CCG in every qualifying investment, supporting exceptional technology companies and strengthening the country’s angel investment ecosystem. Built on decades of heritage as a cornerstone angel group, CCG manages a diverse network of experienced business angels, private investors and family offices who collaborate to invest in the next generation of entrepreneurs in the UK’s key innovation clusters.
CCG is one of the longest-standing angel networks in Britain. Established in 2000, the Cambridge-based network focuses on technology-enabled investments and has deployed more than £50 million into over 150 companies during its 25-year history. CCG is managed by Founder, Struan McDougall, alongside Director, Jayne Parker, who together lead the network's investment activities and support its portfolio companies. Members of the group have enjoyed more than 25 successful exits from the portfolio to date.
This latest commitment brings the total number of investment partners on the Haatch Platform to seven.
Mark Barry, Senior Investment Director at the British Business Bank said:
Cambridge Capital Group have a long history of making investments which have helped to close gaps in early-stage access to capital. Our £2 million commitment through our Regional Angels Programme via the Haatch platform will mean that more businesses are able to access the finance that they need to scale and grow.
Struan McDougall, Founder of Cambridge Capital Group, said:
We are delighted to secure this co-investment from BBB, which will add capacity to members’ commitments in our portfolio, and which recognises the long history of CCG’s significant involvement in the development of the British angel investment market.
Fred Soneya, Co-Founder and General Partner at Haatch, said:
We’re pleased to welcome Cambridge Capital Group as the seventh investment partner on the Haatch Platform. Through the Regional Angels Programme, the platform lets established angel groups like CCG add co-investment capacity alongside their members without changing how they source and back companies. That means more capital going to the businesses that need it.
The Regional Angels Programme works with experienced angel groups and networks across the UK to increase the availability of early-stage equity finance for ambitious businesses. Through the Haatch Platform, the programme provides a scalable mechanism for co-investment alongside established and emerging angel groups, helping to unlock additional capital and support business growth across the regions.
By partnering with regionally embedded angel groups, the programme benefits from local market knowledge and established deal sourcing capabilities. These networks enable the programme to access high-quality investment opportunities by using their deep understanding of local markets.
