It has a strong portfolio of intellectual property with a growing list of established favourites and innovative new concept games. The United States has become a major export market, fuelled by the widespread popularity of “game nights”.

Support from the Bank
In November 2021, the Bank announced a £30 million commitment to Mobeus Equity Partners. Mobeus provides capital to smaller businesses, supporting their growth, and takes an equity stake, alongside existing management teams.
In 2025, Mobeus invested £16.2 million in Big Potato Games, taking a minority stake to support accelerated product development and international expansion.
Impact of funding: what has Big Potato Games gone on to do?
At the point of Mobeus’s investment in 2025, the aim for Big Potato Games was to increase R&D to accelerate the launch of new titles, continue to expand its international footprint and invest in digital products that drive real-life connections.
Since then, Big Potato Games has been able to expand its team, with a further 18 hires including a new Chair, Chief Finance Officer and Operations Director. Bringing this talent in house has helped the company to scale its operations, expand international distribution, explore new game concepts and expand its digital offering; all of which have proven key to commercialising its IP and establishing a broader presence in the US market.
Dean Tempest, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Big Potato Games:
We're on a mission to make time spent together better. We want people to feel more alive, more themselves, more together every time they play a Big Potato game. Mobeus is a brilliant backer because they understand our mission. They're as ambitious as we are and helped us think differently about our offering and future growth. This has enabled us to move faster – bringing in key hires, stepping up innovation and opening up new markets – all whilst staying a majority management owned business.
Dominic Draysey, Investment Director, Mobeus Equity Partners:
Big Potato Games is a purpose-led business – we were impressed with the team’s dedication to the mission of helping people connect. We were similarly impressed with their commitment to innovation, which has been fundamental to their success to date and will remain so. We see the combination of purpose and innovation as a winning formula for gaining global market share.
