Impact Report 2025

Report and publications 22 July 2025

Our 2025 Impact Report sets out the impact of the British Business Bank’s activity on smaller businesses across the UK’s Nations and regions.

The Impact Report 2025 sets out how the British Business Bank has newly supported 24,000 businesses to prosper and grow during 2024/25. Through their growth we estimate they will boost UK economic output by around £8bn over the lifetime of their finance.

Importantly, this impact is shared across all parts of the UK, with each of the 12 constituent Nations and regions expected to benefit from a boost to economic output of at least £100m in gross value added. Alongside the impact we have had on economic output, we have also supported 267,000 jobs among the 2024/25 business cohort and expect these businesses to create around 38,000 additional jobs beyond to those already supported.

Key findings

  • The Bank has helped finance flows worth £6.8bn to reach smaller UK businesses in 2024/25.
  • 24,000 businesses have newly benefited from finance supported by the Bank in 2024/25
  • 38,000 additional jobs are expected to be created by the businesses supported who are also expected to generate £18bn in additional turnover, equivalent to £8bn in GVA.
  • All parts of the UK are expected to experience a significant economic boost, with the estimated additional GVA impact at or above £100m in each and every Nation and region of the UK
  • The Bank’s impact goes beyond the measures presented in the report and is expected to increase over time given increases to our financial capacity and reforms to our governance and financial arrangements.
