This survey, produced by BMG research in association with BIS, looks at how small firms approach financial planning and raising finance. We have used its findings to inform our work in developing the British Business Bank.
Amongst its many findings, the report shows that most small firms (71%) approach only one provider of finance and that only 20% seeks external advice when raising finance. It also contains information on awareness of existing Government interventions in the finance market.
