Sussex Place Ventures

British Business Bank programme: Enterprise Capital Funds

Sussex Place Ventures backs UK technology companies. It provides early stage venture capital to ambitious entrepreneurs in software and digital companies and backs businesses with patent-protectable technology.

It is an independently managed venture capital company owned by London Business School. Sussex Place Ventures uses its unique access to the School’s alumni base and its network of entrepreneurs to secure well-referenced deal flow and sector advice and to help portfolio companies with strategic issues and customer acquisition.

The managed fund makes seed investments (circa £250k) and also backs businesses preparing to scale (circa £1m in first investments). The Fund will follow its money and invests in syndicates with business angels it knows and with institutions.

Fund portfolio companies variously: track the spread of breast cancer using magnetic dyes, manage management consultancy company growth, chase overdue company debts, decontaminate cut fruits and medical instruments, optimise server capacity in the cloud and deploy in-memory processing to manage the back offices of Tier1 banks.

Sussex Place Ventures is run by operating and investing professionals who control the investment decision process. The company will continue to back UK technology companies over the long term, sharing its growing experience with investors and portfolio companies.
